Mystic Spirit 9/11 Memorial


	In Memory, In Honor On September 11, 2001 the attacks in the United States shocked us because it was an attack on us all. To our brothers and sisters in New York City, we mourn with you. We also salute those who bravely worked on rescue and recovery in not only New York City but in Washington DC and in Pennsylvania. We wear our ribbons in tribute and in memory.


	This poem was inspired by the photos from the final day at Ground Zero in New York City. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Flag and muslin shroud drapes the final girder. Empty basket cradles a flag in memory. For those who were never found, For those who are never forgotten. Final bells rung, final pipes blown. There's a hole in our hearts, There's a wound in our spirits, There's strength in our union, There's determination in our stride. Strangers standing shoulder to shoulder. Tears pouring down, hands holding hands. United, strangers no more Standing shoulder to shoulder. There's a cleansing through the tears, There's wisdom gained through fears. There's a spirit here of healing, There's a spirit here of living, A spirit moving hearts, touching souls. © Shanyn French 2002

	Canada Won't Forget 9/11

I was talking to a friend after 9/11. She asked me what shall we do in light of these terrible events? My reply, in part, was, "...we do that which we can...we pray, we care, we love those around us as best we can...small stones make ripples as much as big ones, it just takes a bit longer to get around is all...poets write, singers sing, speakers speak and all of us must look to the light and not get caught in the darkness…"
And one more thing we must do is remember. Remember what though? Remember laughter, remember tears and remember joy. Remember miracles and remember to look for them all around us. Remember it's not the doing, but the being as we do, that makes all the difference in the world. Be you, clothed in bright colors or waiting naked in the dark, be fully you.
